Courtesy Release of New Video Got Gold Report

HOUSTON -- Recently we shared a new video update with GGR Subscribers. This particular video takes a look at the positioning of the largest, best funded traders classed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as “Commercial” in the Legacy commitments of traders report “COT” for gold and silver futures.

As a courtesy we have uploaded the new video to our YouTube hub to make it available to the entire GGR readership and the general public.  However, GGR Subscribers received access to it first on the private, password protected Subscriber website, as always.   (More...)

This video documents the current positioning of the very large commercial futures traders, the class that includes traders we have dubbed the “Big Hedgers,” producers, bullion merchants, the largest bullion management firms, refiners, jewelry manufacturers and other large holders of bullion and the bullion banks many of them end up trading futures through.  It also includes and combines data from the traders classed by the CFTC as "Swap Dealers."  For data released Friday, May 17, the Legacy COT shows that the combined commercial traders currently hold their smallest net short positioning (smallest net hedges) in a very long while, meaning they have positioned as though they do not believe that gold and silver have very much downside left in them.  Enjoy. (Video below.)

As just a hint of what the video contains, the positioning of large commercial traders in silver futures is at an extreme not seen in more than 13 years.   It hints that the Big Hedgers have taken advantage of the price declines for gold and silver to get the heck out of their combined collective net short positioning - in a big way.
